About the event

We are thrilled to welcome Chef Danielle Alvarez to host this phenomenal event at Petition Kitchen.  

Danielle Alvarez has an amazing background, after working at some of America’s finest restaurants, including, The French Laundry, Boulettes Larder and Chez Panisse, learning about farm-to-table cooking and old-world techniques, an appreciation for making things from scratch and valuable lessons in how food can play a role in social responsibility. These values bought Danielle to Sydney in 2016, when the Merivale Group asked her to head up and design the kitchen in what was to become their strikingly beautiful Paddington restaurant, Fred’s.  Both Danielle and the restaurant won fast acclaim – and were quickly rated among the best in the country.

Danielle is happiest in the kitchen, whether in restaurants like Chez Panisse, where she honed her craft, or at home, where she nurtures it. In her new cookbook - Recipes for a Lifetime of Beautiful Cooking, Danielle's focus is the meals she prepares at home, and communicating the ways in which cooking is one of the simplest ways to create and share joy.

The launch of this event coincides with the announcement of her new appointment as the Culinary Director of the Sydney Opera House! During the lunch we will welcome WA Good Food Guide Director - Georgia Moore to host a Q&A session with Danielle.  We look forward to hearing more about this new role, and of her guiding philosophy in the kitchen (and life) which we understand is 'abandon and restraint'!  She is known for applying that to individual recipes, and the bigger picture as shaped by the ebb and flow of weather, moods, time, budgets and tastes.

The event will include a three course lunch in collaboration with the fabulous team at Petition Kitchen:

Entrees

Grilled asparagus with pine nut salsa

Casarecce with prawns, mint and pistachio

Main Course

Sweet and sour cumin lamb shoulder with garlic yoghurt

Cabbage salad with mint and currants

Ghee roasted potatoes

Dessert

Meyer lemon tart

Enjoy a glass of sparkling wine on arrival and a complimentary glass of wine during lunch.
